Importers and Exporters Met to Discuss the Complexities of Global Trade

Miami event hosted by Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg P.A. and Amber Road

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ, July 17, 2013 -- Top global trade management (GTM) specialists recently spoke on the complexities of international trade at a seminar hosted by Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services (STTAS), Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg P.A (ST&R) and Amber Road on June 25th in Miami.

STTAS and ST&R, which together form the world's largest customs and international trade services provider, and Amber Road, a leading provider of GTM solutions, hosted representatives from organizations in the Miami area and presented discussions on duty drawback; recognizing potential refunds; automating compliance for financial returns; import and export enforcement; and a special session that included a discussion of current events from the nation's capital.

Speakers included:

Dawn Olesky, Vice President, Duty Drawback Programs, STTAS
George Weise, Executive Vice President, STTAS
Ty Bordner, Vice President, Product Management and Solutions Consulting, Amber Road
Lenny Feldman, Managing Member, ST&R

"The ever increasing geographic expansion of global trade as well as the heightened focus on security has led to unprecedented complexity in managing global supply chains," said Bordner. "However, utilizing the right international trade strategies, tactics together with the proper technology, can dramatically streamline operations and lower costs."

Specific tactics on driving cost savings and increasing revenues were also discussed, including duty drawback. "While duty drawback is an old law, most companies don't know it exists," said Olesky. "Yet duty drawback can offer as much as a 99 percent refund of import duties, taxes or fees, lowering costs to customers and increasing global sales."

"The growth in global trade during the last twenty years coupled with the new complexities created by free trade agreements, export controls, supply chain security, to name only few issues, today makes globally trading goods more challenging than any time in history. To cope with these challenges Customs professionals need to be better informed and more diligent than their predecessors", stated former Commissioner of Customs, George Weise. "Turning to the professionals at Sandler and Travis Trade Advisory Services allows importers and exporters to focus on their core business and we manage the daily challenge of compliance for them."

In April, STTAS and Amber Road hosted a similar event in New York attended by many of the world's best known retail brands. For more information on STTAS/ST&R visit and for more information on Amber Road visit
